The key factors determining whether sludge can be utilized as a resource are: whether the sludge contains usable active ingredients and whether its safety standards are met.
The composition of sludge varies greatly depending on its source. Sludge from industries such as metal processing and chemicals often contains heavy metals or toxic chemicals, requiring testing to determine if it is hazardous waste and treatment according to relevant standards. This type of sludge is usually difficult to utilize directly. However, another type of sludge comes from municipal wastewater treatment plants and industries such as food processing, papermaking, and agriculture. This type of sludge contains a high proportion of organic matter, fibers, microbial residues, and other organic raw materials, and can be utilized after drying. The most common treatment method is to convert it into granules to realize economic value.
